Individual Student Loan Repayment Strategy Sessions

Explore free resources first.

You do not have to pay for help with student loans.

Federal student loan borrowers can complete the following tasks for free via studentaid.gov:

  • choose a repayment plan,

  • apply for loan forgiveness, and

  • consolidate loans.

You can also visit the Maryland Center for Collegiate Financial Wellness (MCCFW) YouTube channel for answers to frequently asked questions about student loan repayment for new graduates, Public Service Loan Forgiveness (PSLF), and the Income-Driven Repayment (IDR) Adjustment.

If you would like to meet with Dr. Tisa, keep in mind that strategy sessions tend to be most beneficial for borrowers who:

  • have a total student loan balance near or greater than their income in one year,

  • work (or have worked) for public service employers (government and 501(c)(3) tax-exempt organizations), and/or

  • have been in repayment for several years and still owe more than they originally borrowed.

Dr. Tisa’s approach is rooted in personal finance and financial wellness. Together, you will explore options for how to manage the loans in your life instead of building your life around them. Book a Strategy Session to receive a full inventory of your loans, review repayment options, and determine both eligibility and next steps to maximize student loan benefits including Public Service Loan Forgiveness (PSLF).
